Jesus in Addie's heart

The boys have been sick the last couple of days. Nathan's been pretty miserable today. During a moment of him actually moving around the house not attached to me, he got out his doctor's kit and brought it to me and Addie. He proceded to take out all the tools and "ceck Addie out." When he got to the stethascope, he put it on Addie's back, looked up at me and said "I hear Jesus in Addie's heart." Which cracked me up and melted my heart.

Making a Wish

After reading a Dora book about a wishing star, I talked to Caleb about how making wishes on a star is not real, and it is just in stories. Here is the dialogue that ensued:
Me: "What do you think we should do if we really need something or want something?"
Caleb: "Make a wish!"
Me: "Well, making a wish doesn't really work. What do you think we should do if we really think God wants us to have something that we need or want?"
Caleb: "Use a credit card!"

I obviousely countered with little lesson on prayer, but I couldn't help but laugh heartily after the credit card remark!

Caleb's Thoughts on Answering Machines

This afternoon, we got a couple of calls in a row that showed up as "unknown number" on caller ID. After the first one, I explained to Caleb that I didn't answer the phone because I didn't know who it was. After the second call, the answering machine picked it up, which had my voice giving our greeting. After I didn't answer this one, Caleb said, "Hey dad, that's you!. Dad, do you know yourself?"

Caleb's Vision

Last night the boys were in our bed sleeping. Around 5:00 I hear Caleb say, "Mommy, I saw Jesus' light." He said it a couple of times but we were all to sleepy to talk about it.

In the morning he told us that he saw Jesus' light shining like the sun in between him and Nathan in bed. When asked to tell us more about it, he said "It made me happier and happier."

A vision? A dream? I don't know but I wish I had seen the light as well. Hearing Caleb so excited about makes me happier and happier, too!

Throwed up

Caleb:
"Mom, I just throwed up. I didn't want it to go on the floor though, so I just swallowed it."

Nathan's funny lingo

So Nathan's talking a ton. He's really learned how to express himself and his feelings....I thought that this would make our lives easier, since he'd be about to tell me what he's thinking, instead he's becoming increasingly more verbal in his dislike for what I'm saying. All the while he's cracking me up.
Often when I say "Nay Nay can you do....." He replies with "no, I tan't, Mommy."
Another favorite of his is "No, I no wike it, Mommy."
To Caleb I often hear him saying "No, Cawab, you tan't"
He loves to disagree with Caleb, he's quite the little tease and knows how to push all of Caleb's buttons. It's pretty funny to watch, unfortunately for me I have to put out all the fires that Nathan's fiestiness sparks.
One day we were driving in the car and I asked Caleb if Addie was sleep and he said yes, Nathan decided he wanted to drive Caleb crazy and said "no he not, cawab" and back and forth they went.
Nathan also loves to count, yet still hasn't grasped the need for using the number 2.
Michael has been frequently stressing the need for the number, being the Math teacher that he is. Caleb is Michael's protegue and fills in when he's at work. This morning I overheard this conversation "Nathan, why don't you like the number 2."
"Number 2, Cawab?"
"Yeah, do you like 2"
"I wike 2 Cawab"
"Oh, you do?"
Often my highlights of my day are overhearing funny conversations like this. They crack me up but more importantly, they are also think they are so funny. I love it.
